A Very Talented Knitter

Hello friends,

I want to introduce to you, my friend, Marg, a very talented knitter. And, she  has one of the biggest hearts! Marg knits the most  fabulous sweaters and clothing for children. I don’t know anywhere you can buy quality handmade knit clothing for children at this price!

Marg is from the UK but was born in Belfast. Here is her bio which includes a very interesting story about her family and their historical ties to the Titanic.

My name is Margaret and although I have lived in England for the past few years I was born and bred in BELFAST, less than a mile from Harland and Wolffe, where as everyone knows the ill fated Titanic was bulit.
Both my grandfathers along with most of our neighbours had worked on the ship, my mother’s father had fallen 80 feet into the docks and he went back to work 2 days later strapped up and in agony. They told me tales of how most of the workers were paid by their production and how they’d climb over the wall to get ‘INTO’ work! no such thing as health and safety then, and of the hard labour, the sweat, the tears, and the pride that went into the making… and the pain and sheer disbelief at the loss.
During these tales and ‘many more’ my grandmother sat by the open fire knitting, or crocheting the latest ‘necessity’ she’d smile, she’d frown, but she’d just keep on knitting .

Life during the unrest was ‘very hard’ and to escape it, I would go to Donegal, where life was slow and free, and the ladies who seemed ‘really old’ to me then, sat on their doorsteps knitting and crocheting with their nimble fingers going at such a speed and with hardly a glance at their work I was amazed and hooked!!.

Over the years knitting and crochet have been my escape and comfort…now ‘I’m’ one off those old ladies . God Bless them all x

Please stop by her Etsy shop, JaminaRose, to check out her work or click here to see an Etsy treasury devoted to Marg!

Marg, thank you my friend for everything you do! We all wish you much success!  Terri, Pikes Peak Pillow Company

My First Blogger Award!

I would like to thank ‘Wug’s Backyard Blog’ for presenting me with my first blogger award! I feel very honored and blessed for being  recognized. Thank you, Debbie!

The rules for accepting this award are:
1.) Give thanks to the person who gave you the award, and link back to them
2.) Mention 7 facts about yourself
3.) Pass it on

Here are 7 Facts About Me:

1. I have a 5 year old grandson. Who is absolutely adorable, by the way! So that makes me a very young Grandma! Why? Because, I say so!

2.  I have been a nurse for over fifteen years, working in many different areas of health care. Currently, I am working as an independent legal nurse consultant. But my pillows are my passion!

3.  My Dad is a flyfishing guide in Navajo Dam, NM. I don’t like fishing. I am very good at getting my line tangled up. I do look pretty cute in waders, though.

4.  My husband and I love fine dining. We also love to cook and try new recipes. On Valentine’s Day this year, I had caviar for the first time. It was really good because it was served with creme fraiche and a potato cake. Don’t think I could eat it on a cracker.

5.  If I drink more than 2 glasses of wine, I get drunk. I know, what a ‘wuss’!

6.  At Christmas time, I bake cookies and candy for two days, then give most of it away to family and friends.

7.  I am an absolute believer in the Law of Attraction. My husband and I follow Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor and Joel Osteen. We are also huge fans of Jim Rohn’s teachings.

I am very excited about giving this award to three other people! Here are my picks. They are fabulous bloggers! Check them out! 1) Fuss It Up! Designs   2)This Way Up!    3) 202 Designs

Again, thank you, Debbie! This has been a lot of fun!  Terri/Pikes Peak Pillow Company

Featured Watercolor Artist: Ruth Armitage

Hi friends,

“Salsa” is the new treasury I created on Etsy when dreaming about a hot, sultry night listening to the beat of a Latin rhythm. I was inspired by a beautiful dancing watercolor painting by fellow Etsian, Ruth Armitage.

Ruth’s Bio:

“Watercolor artist Ruth Armitage has received many local and national awards for her colorful, contemporary images of people. Lush color and exaggerated shapes combine with soft edges to evoke a sense of mystery and warmth. Ruth has been elected a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and the Northwest Watercolor Society. Her work has received the top award in the Watercolor Society of Oregon’s exhibition for transparent watercolor, as well as awards at other national, regional and statewide exhibitions.

Ruth is a Past President of the Watercolor Society of Oregon. She is a popular instructor and demonstrator for adult classes and groups and has juried several regional exhibitions. She was profiled in Watercolor Magic’s “Ones to Watch” in 2000. Her work was featured in 2004 for Oregon Public Broadcasting’s “Oregon Art Beat” with KC Cowan. American Artist’s Publication Watercolor also featured Ruth’s work in their Summer 2005 issue.”

Featured Artist: FaithAnn Originals

Hi friends,

I want to introduce a fellow artisan of Etsy, Faith Ann from FaithAnn Originals. She describes herself as, “A Wisconsin watercolor artist and potter for over 20 years, I’ve married a lifelong fondness for local flora with my signature watercolor-glazing techniques and intricately detailed “ceramic canvases.”

She creates beautiful botanical ceramic artwork that is available on Etsy.  I love the intricate detail and colors.

Here are some of my favorites:

Faith Ann was featured November 29, 2010 in a wonderful dwelement blog article that chronicles the hardship she has overcome in her life and how her artwork developed. She is an amazing woman and I hope you will take the time to read about her life and take a look at her artwork.

Warm regards, Terri/Pikes Peak Pillow Company
